Reasons to be Excited about the Future of Technology
Economists say that the rapid advancements that humans are making in the technology and the widely distributed technology is the most powerful source fueling human progress. And this is absolutely true. In 1820, the average lifespan was less than 35 years, 94 percent of the world’s population lived in terrible poverty, and only 20% of the population was literate. Human life expectancy is now over 70 years, less than 10% of the world’s population lives in extreme poverty, and more than 80% of the population is literate.
Many exciting technologies are in the works that will, in the not-too-distant future, completely change the world map. Some of them are:
1- Self Driving Cars:
In most driving conditions, self-driving cars are safer than human-driven cars today. They’ll get even safer over the next 3–5 years, and they’ll start to become widespread.
According to the World Health Organization, car accidents claim the lives of 1.25 million people each year. Pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists hit by autos account for half of the deaths. For those aged 15 to 29, automobiles are the biggest cause of death.
Self-driving cars will transform the world in the same way that automobiles did in the twentieth century. Parking spaces take up between 20 and 30 percent of usable space in most cities, and most cars are parked 95 percent of the time. Self-driving automobiles will be in almost constant use (most likely via a smartphone app), eliminating the demand for parking substantially. That is, the car will arrive at you when you press just one button on your phone.
Scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs have been working hard to make clean energy accessible and affordable.
Since 1977, the cost of solar cells has decreased by 99.5 percent due to continual scientific and manufacturing advancements. Solar energy will become more affordable than fossil fuels in the near future. The cost of wind energy has also dropped to an all-time low, and it now accounts for nearly a third of newly built energy capacity in the United States and it is evolving very rapidly all across the globe. This is the real reason to be excited about the future of technology. In India, work is going on to convert airports to self-sustaining clean energy.
Tesla manufactures high-performance, low-cost electric vehicles, and installs electric charging stations around the world.
There are clear signals that clean energy will soon get to a tipping point. In Japan, for example, electric charging stations increasingly outnumber gas stations. Germany occasionally generates more energy than it consumes.
3-Virtual and Augmented Reality:
Virtual and Augmented reality is getting high advancements in the computer progress community. Companies such as Facebook, Google, Apple, and Microsoft are investing billions of dollars to make virtual reality and augmented reality more immersive, comfortable, and accessible.
People often assume that VR and AR will only be used for gaming, but they will be utilized for a wide range of activities in the future. For Example, We’ll utilize them to manipulate 3-D objects, meet up with international friends and colleagues, and rehabilitate people having phobias, etc.
4- Drones and Flying Cars:
Dr. Emmet Brown once said, “We don’t need the roads where we’re going.”
GPS was originally developed for military usage, but it is today used to call cabs, get mapping directions, and track down Pokémon. Drones, likewise, began as a military technology but are now increasingly being employed for a variety of consumer and commercial purposes.
Drones, for example, are used to monitor essential infrastructures such as bridges and electricity lines, to assess areas affected by natural calamities, and for a variety of other innovative applications such as fighting wildlife poaching.
Moving on to our today’s topic on “Reasons to be excited about the future of technology”, I would like to explain that Drones are being developed by Amazon and Google to transport home goods. Moreover, Zipline, a startup, uses drones to transport medical supplies to towns that aren’t reachable by road. Additionally, flying cars are evolving more and more in today’s period of time. Flying Uber has been launched recently in Dubai which moved the technological age to the next period.

In addition to our today’s topic, Reasons to be excited about the future of technology. I have chosen Artificial Intelligence to explain. This thing is a bit excited but a bit worried too. True, humans create machines in such a way that they get what humans desire and think just like humans. It does not work in accordance with the instructions, but it does have the ability to think. And this is called Artificial Intelligence(AI).
Artificial intelligence can be used in practically every sector. In photography, for example, an AI approach known as artistic style transfer converts photos into the style of a specific painter.
Google created an AI system that manages the electrical systems in its data centers, saving hundreds of millions of dollars in energy expenditures.
6-Pocket Supercomputers for Everyone:
By 2020, 80 percent of adults on the planet will have a smartphone with internet access. An iPhone 6 has approximately 2 billion transistors, which is roughly 625 times more than a 1995 Intel Pentium computer. Smartphones are what used to be referred to as supercomputers. Smartphones are the real reasons to be excited about the future of technology.
Smartphones with Internet access provide ordinary people with capabilities that were previously only available to a few.
7-Cryptocurrencies and Blockchains:
The internet’s plumbing is made up of protocols. The majority of the protocols we use today were designed by academia and government decades ago. Since then, protocol development has slowed significantly as the focus has switched to private systems like social networks and messaging apps.
By creating a new commercial model for internet protocols, cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are changing this. Hundreds of millions of dollars have been raised this year for a variety of new blockchain-based systems.
Blockchain-based protocols also have characteristics that prior protocols lacked. Ethereum, for example, is a revolutionary blockchain-based system that may be used to establish censorship-resistant smart contracts and trusted databases.
How online education is evolving in today’s world especially in this pandemic is the real reason to be excited about the future of technology.
While college tuition continues to rise, anyone with a smartphone can research practically any topic online, using primarily free and increasingly high-quality instructional content.
It used to cost $1,400 to purchase the Encyclopedia Britannica. Anyone with a smartphone can now browse Wikipedia quickly. To learn computer programming, you used to have to go to school or buy programming books. At Stack Overflow, you can now learn from a community of over 40 million programmers. Thousands of hours of free tutorials and lectures are available on YouTube, many of which are made by prominent professors and universities.
